Tips/Service Charges

Hotels and smart restaurants charge 25% in various taxes. Local cafes and bars do not charge this tax.

Tips for taxis and meals are like anywhere else - give what you feel is appropriate.

You will receive help in many ways from local people. Occasionally they ask for something. They are usually poor, so give something to reflect their service.

Porridge, Jeanell and one or two others associated with Castara Retreats will offer you many kind services. Do ask them if there is a charge and if not, offer them something if you valued their service.
