Climate
The official view from Discover Tobago is ‘ a warm
tropical climate tempered by trade winds. The average
daytime temperature is 29°c (83°F), with maximums in the low
to mid 30s. The early months of the year are dry and sunny,
June to December is the wet season, but rain tends to fall
in short sharp bursts, and most days have plenty of
sunlight.’ We were there last August and probably had the
best snorkeling and calmest seas of all our times there - so
it’s wonderful even in much of the rainy season, though
there can be wet periods of several days later on in the
rainy season, especially around full moon/new moon time.

After Hurricane Ivan, we feel that we should add something
about this devastating force of nature. July to September is
the hurricane season. Trinidad and Tobago lie to the south
of the hurricane belt and have not experienced widespread
destruction since Hurricane Flora in 1963. Hurricane Ivan
thankfully only brushed Tobago in passing, causing no
serious structural damage. It was a frightening experience,
especially for those who are old enough to remember
Hurricane Flora. So no guarantees, clearly, but it's very
unlikely.
