Accommodation Options

We have several options offering high quality accommodations to suit a range of requirements and budgets.
First, there is the main house which consists of a wooden structure divided into a two bedroom penthouse apartment (Rainforest) on the upper floor and two one bedroom apartments (Hummingbird 1 and 2) below. In September 2007, renovations were completed in Hummingbird 1 (formerly Osprey) upgrading it from a studio apartment to a one bedroom apartment with separate kitchen and living/dining. Hummingbird 2 (formerly Pelican) remains a studio apartment until April 2008, when renovations will complete the upgrade to a one bedroom apartment with separate living/dining areas.
Secondly there is Fisherman’s Lodge,
a renovated shack offering 800 square feet of spacious living with a
large double bedroom, living room, and covered deck area.
Thirdly there are two newly constructed wooden haiku lodges, Coasthanger
and Birdsong, each with very high quality and spacious accommodation.
Coasthanger has one bedroom and an open plan living area, kitchen, shower
room and porch. Birdsong has similar open plan living areas but with two
bedrooms and two en-suite shower rooms.
All the accommodations offer open, spacious living areas and comfortable seating for both dining and relaxing. Each has stunning and uninterrupted views of the bay and the ocean. The house, with its three apartments, has dividing walls and floors that are well sound proofed to ensure privacy and tranquillity. The lodges sit independently within their own environment and offer more privacy and luxury.
Mango trees fringe the overall property and banana palms and bamboo grow below, with orchards with papaya, lemons, plantain, avocado, orange and limes within the one and a half acres of rapidly maturing gardens. The fruits are there to enjoy when in season. In March 2005, we developed a wooden viewing deck and pagoda perched on a grassy outlook overlooking the bay, with panoramic views all along the coast. All our guests are invited to share its use, and to explore the gardens.
We would point out to visitors that our lodges and apartments are located on a hillside overlooking the beach. Access to and from the beach involves a 75 yard walk up a paved, well-lit path. A look at our web site photos will give you a good impression of the daily walk up and down the hill.
In October 2005 we created a paved road
and car park so vehicular access is now much simpler and clients can
arrive and walk to all the accommodations without effort. As part of
this new development we also created new facilities to ease the disruption
of vacating the accommodations on departure days and now have a shower
room and toilet for use on departure day and a secure baggage room with
security safes, so that clients can be free on their final day to enjoy
the pleasures of Castara.
